cyclocross

Sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail.  This was the last race of the AZ Cyclocross series.  I was three points behind the series leader, and I was confident I could take the overall series lead as I had finished ahead of the leader in every race save for the one I was crashed out of.
A little gap and as I accelerated to close it I hit a hole in the ground which caused my brakes to seize up.  I dismounted, totally confused as to what was going on, but maintained calm as I tried to find the problem.  I released the front brake only to discover the back brake had also seized.  This process probably took a solid 45 seconds if not longer; in this time the majority of the field passed me.  With my brakes rubbing, but no longer clenching my rims, I mounted my bike and chased hard.  I was able to make up a decent amount of ground, but it wasn't enough.  Luck is hard to train.  I know I didn't "podium" and I didn't check the results.  I was riding so well and felt so good, only to be dealt a mechanical blow.
