Threatening weather which, fortunately, held off for our juniors who were the first to race early on Sunday morning. Don Henley and Daniel Eaton were unfazed by the racing on Saturday and again showed up for another tough race. Nick Thorpe has missed Saturday because of his cold but was determined to follow up on his victory in this race last year so he was there...cold and all. Madi entered the race and was thrown in with the junior men. Nick started the race in his usual style with an immediate break which really got the attention of the pack. Several riders were dropped in the first few laps of the race as our juniors battled with the best in the race. Madi wound up in a small group of junior men and blasted them to win a prime! Yes, Madi won two inner tubes and is considering going professional after seeing the money making potential. One of the strongest non-Strada riders attempted several breaks but our team reeled him in and then kept the pace high and under their control. The pack slowed for the final sprint and disappeared from view as they were on the far side of the course...seconds later our jerseys could be seen at the front of the pack as Nick Thorpe won a clear overall victory with Daniel Eaton in third place and Don Henley in fourth. A great and exciting finish!
