vos stage race
13/February/2010 10:14
As most of you know, this is the largest bike race in the state. Almost 800 riders this year and competitors come from all over to enjoy our weather and try their legs for this early stage race. We had three Strada riders in the event: Drew Albert, Cedric Bosch and Chris Colson.
The time trial is run on Friday (imagine the fun of taking the times and staging almost 800 riders!). Chris competed in the second group of Cat 5's (the field is limited to 50 riders) and finished in 20th place. A great ride for Chris in his first stage race and tt!
Drew and Cedric raced in the Cat 3 race and scored 19th and 46th places respectively. While both were hoping for higher places, their times were much faster than last year and they are facing fierce competition from the Californians.
The road race was today...in perfect weather. Chris Colson finished mid pack in his first road race. A lot of firsts for Chris. He enjoyed the ride, learned a lot and managed to miss the three big crashes in his event.
Drew and Cedric had their hands full in the big pack. The pace was hard and a break got away from the group. Drew closed the gap and he and Cedric were well placed for the finish. Drew dominated the work in the breakaway and was happy his training has been so effective. Just five miles from the end, the break was caught and it would be down to the finishing sprint. Cedric capitalized on good position and a great sprint to get a 4-5th place (official results were not yet available). Wonderful result, Cedric....congratulations! Drew finished with the pack. Detailed results will be available tonight on the VOS website.
